EQUINE & ANIMAL-ASSISTED THERAPY
Whitsundays & coming soon to Brisbane

At Montrose Hills Therapy, our Equine & Animal-Assisted programs are delivered outdoors in a peaceful, non-clinical farm setting at our Therapy Space on the Farm in Conway, Whitsundays.
Led by a Developmental Educator who is also a registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner, participants work with our horses, Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens and budgies. Different animals suit different people, some connect best with the calm presence of a horse, others prefer the playfulness of a goat or the quieter company of the birds.
Our approach with horses focuses on ground-based (non-ridden) interactions, valued for their sensitivity and communication. We work alongside both the participant and the horse, using the horse's ability to mirror human emotions, giving immediate, honest feedback in a safe and supported way. Sessions can also offer different opportunities, from feeding and care routines to quieter, sensory-focused interactions.
Step outside the clinic and into nature. Discover the benefits of Equine & Animal-Assisted Therapy in a relaxing farm setting designed to nurture connection, capacity, and wellbeing.

Safety and Suitability
All horses and farm animals undergo regular safety and suitability assessments. Before engaging with the animals, participants complete evaluations with their therapist to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both the participant and the animals throughout each session.
The Therapy Space on the Farm offers a calm, engaging environment where our animal team become partners in support, complementing the knowledge and skill of our Developmental Educator. This approach creates meaningful opportunities for growth, including increased confidence, improved focus, better regulation, and greater independence, within a goal-aligned framework.
